I picked this flower brooch up in a thrift store figuring I could refashion it into a necklace of some kind. I have no idea when it was made, but, when I was pondering design possibilities, an image of it paired with retro 1950s/1960s beads came into my head. I located vintage teardrop Lucite beads that probably are from the early 60s when moonglow (a pearlized finish) finish became very popular.
I like how the teardrop shapes echo the shapes of the flower’s petals. I thought the Lucite spacers with the beaded edges were very interesting as well. I am hoping these items will all manage to work well together in a necklace.
